What's it all about?

Cow Pie Compost is an excellent soil amendment that is utilized by growers in a wide range of applications. Nursery, vineyard and golf course owners, landscapers, organic farmers and homeowners enjoy the high quality of this soil amendment. It is lightweight, dark, rich and mild in scent, and is available in 2 grades: Cowpost (compost) and Cowchip (mulch).

Cow Pie Compost is a stable humus soil amendment created by combining cow manure and wood chips and forming aerated static piles in concrete bays. Air is pushed through the piles at controlled rates to enhance microbial activity, control temperatures and odors, and destroy weed seeds, pathogens and fly larvae. After 30 days, the mixture is removed from the primary bay, screened, and then moved to a secondary aeration bay for curing. After 60-90 days, Cow Pie Compost is fully stabilized and mature and is ready to till into the soil. In the first year, you will very likely see twice the production of fruit, vegetable and flower production. "Plant your seeds and stand back."

Cow Pie Compost production takes place at temperatures between 110 and 150 degrees Farenheit. Moisture of 60-65% and variable oxygen are maintained according to the measured needs of the pile. The raw materials are allowed to reach temperatures in excess of 130 degrees Farenheit for 3 consecutive days to meet the EPA's Process to Further Reduce Pathogens, PFRP Standards. The forced aeration expedites and enhances the composting and curing phases. At the final stages, the second-screening process removes excess wood chips leaving the finished compost of approximately 80% cow manure and 20% wood chips.
